Welcome Ad

How the Welcome Ad works

The Welcome Ad appears to site users when clicking through to the site purchased. They can enter the site via newsletter links, Google searches, bookmarks etc.

Frequency Cap

The ad is frequency capped at 1 view per user per 24 hour period. This can not be changed.

How the Ad is Created

The finished Welcome Ad is created by our selected vendor. The vendor compiles all the deliverable assets, pulls them into a template and sends CMP the final tags to be posted in our Ad Server.

Tracking and Reporting

Reporting is provided to all clients. We track the following metrics:

  • Unique loads*
  • Clicks
  • Skips
  • Seconds to click

*visitor's that do not have javascript enabled, or do not accept cookies are not served the ad and therefore not counted.

Technical Specifications:

The Welcome Ad is comprised of 3 elements, the dynamic publisher's logo, the timer and skip feature, and the creative space. Specifications for each element are listed below:

Video:

Video is accepted in the welcome ad but it must be third party hosted and follow the third party's specs for video. Video length must be 15 seconds or less. Video can start automatically but sound must be user-initiated on click. Mute button is required.

Publisher's Logo:

The publisher's logo is located at the top of the ad space in the left corner. The logo is dynamically switched depending on which url the visitor browses the creative from. The publisher's logo is provided. If this is a new site, publisher will need to work with OAS to add site logo to the registry.

Timer:

The timer is triggered when the Welcome Ad is initiated. It is initially custom set to a particular parameter, usually between 10 to 20 seconds. It counts down by seconds. Once the timer reaches 1 the Welcome Ad redirects to the original page the visitor was heading towards.

Client's Creative:

The creative is loaded in the main area below the publisher's logo and the timer. It is comprised of one large click-through which redirects the visitor in a new window to an alternative location. A click-through url and a creative file from the client is required with the following specifications:

FAQ

Can the client provide ad tags for the creative?

No, we require the physical creative asset in order to have the ad created. An ad tag is not the physical file but a link to the ad. If linked assets are provided instead of a file, the contents of the linked assets could change while the campaign creative is being developed and deployed.

Can the client provide click commands (tracking url's) for the creative?

Yes, we can implement tracking url's into the creative. These must be submitted with the creative file and can not be implemented after the ad has been built and approved.

Can the client change make changes to their creative?

Yes, only until it's approved. After the ad is approved, there are no changes.

Can we preview our ad before we have it built?

Yes, there is a configurator tool that all advertisers are urged to use. It's a simple upload of your creative to view how the finished product will look and work.

Can we run audio or video?

If, when uploading the creative into the ad configurator, the video or audio work, it can be used. All audio and video must be user initiated.

Any Welcome Ad that is successfully composed in the confines of the configurator is deemed a basic project. Any project that requires additional or custom modifications is deemed a custom project and additional charges will be applied.

When are client materials due?

All client creative and tracking links must be submitted 5 busines days prior to launch date.
