Page Peel Ad

How the PagePeel works

A small animated "dogear" graphic appears on virtually every page of the programs site. When a visitor mouses over the dogear graphic the page peels back to display the advertiser's page. A click on the large-format creative takes the user directly to the advertiser's page.

How the Ad is created

The finished PagePeel is created by our selected vendor. The vendor compiles all the deliverable assets, creates the ad and sends the final tags to CMP for posting in our Ad Server.

Tracking and Reporting

Reporting is available to all clients. We track the following metrics:

  • Clicks : how many visitors click on the ad
  • Open : how many visitors roll over the dogear to reveal the pagepeel ad
  • Rerun : how many visitors open and closeand reopen the pagepeel
  • Close : how many visitors roll off the pagepeel to close it

Technical Specifications:

The PagePeel is comprised of two graphic elements, the dogear which is the teaser and the pagepeel which is revealed when rolling over the teaser. Both elements can be formatted as .jpg, .gif, .png or .swf. Specifications for both are below.

Video:

Video is accepted in the pagepeel but it must be third party hosted and follow the third party's specs for video. Video length must be 1 minute or less. Video should not start automatically, rather queued by the first frame of the parent movie. Mute button is required.

Client's Creative (to be submitted to Ad Specialist):

Images (.jpg, .gif, .png)

When composing the files using .jpg, .gif, .png, the files must have the follow specifications:

  • Color Mode RGB
  • 72 DPI
  • Standard optimization (no progressive scan)
  • Less than 100 kilobytes
  • Non-animated

.swf (Flash):

When composing the files using .swf (Flash), the files must have the follow specifications:

  • Version 6, AS 2.0 (only if necessary, otherwise 1.0)
  • A background flood color should be included for any non-white backgrounds
  • Less than 100 kilobytes
  • 30 FPS
  • Minimal listeners
  • Any click-throughs or buttons removed

For the Dogear file:

The standard dimensions are 100 pixels in width and 75 pixels in height. Only about 40 or so of the top pixels are visible though, refer to the art templates. Any image wider than 300 pixels will automatically ticker from right to left, unless using a .swf (flash) file. A buffer of 100 pixels should be placed on either side to allow for a smooth transition. Any image less than 300 pixels in width will not ticker.
* For dogear, instead of creating the actual file, client can opt to provide their logo. Vendor for CMP can incorporate the logo into the dogear creative.

For the Peelback file:

The dimensions are fixed at 800 pixels in width and 600 pixels in height. The composition should place all the live content in the upper right hand corner, as nothing in the lower left corner will be visible.
* For pagepeel, instead of creating the actual file, client can opt to send the url of a landing page. Vendor for CMP can take a screen shot of the landing page to use as the creative.

Client Deliverables to Ad Specialist:

1. Physical copy of client's creative or url of landing page to take screen shot from
2. Click-through url for creative and any third party tracking url if applicable
*Any PeelBack Ad that is successfully composed in the confines of the configurator is deemed a basic project. Any project that requires additional or custom modifications is deemed a custom project and additional charges will be applied.

FAQ

Can the client provide ad tags for the creative?
No, we require the physical creative asset in order to have the ad created. An ad tag is not the physical file but a link to the ad. If linked assets are provided instead of a file, the contents of the linked assets could change while the campaign creative is being developed and deployed.

Can the client provide click commands (tracking url's) for the creative?
Yes, we can implement tracking url's into the creative. These must be submitted with the creative file and can not be implemented after the ad has been built and approved.

Can the client change make changes to their creative?
Yes, only until it's approved. After the ad is approved, there are no changes.

Can we preview our ad before we have it built?
Yes, there is a configurator tool that all advertisers are urged to use. It's a simple upload of your creative to view how the finished product will look and work.

Where is the configurator located?
The configurator will answer many issues and questions. Clients can see exactly what is required, upload their files, and see how it's going to look and work:
